At the heart of Al-Hadba University’s (AHU) strategic leadership lies the University Council—a dynamic and collaborative body entrusted with steering the institution’s academic, administrative, and developmental journey. As AHU evolves to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world, the University Council plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the university remains grounded in its mission while boldly pursuing its aspirations.

Composed of the University President, two Vice Presidents (for Scientific Affairs, and Administration Affairs), the Deans of all nine colleges, along with representatives of students, and head of Quality assurance department, the Council brings together a broad spectrum of voices that reflect the university’s diverse academic and social fabric.

Together, they form a unified leadership team dedicated to delivering academic excellence, promoting innovation, ensuring administrative efficiency, and deepening community engagement.

Mission and Mandate of the University Council

The University Council provides the central governance mechanism at AHU, ensuring that decisions are informed by academic integrity, institutional priorities, and stakeholder engagement. The Council oversees the formulation and implementation of strategies that shape AHU’s academic policies, research initiatives, and overall direction.

Core Responsibilities

🔹 Strategic Planning & Oversight

  • Developing and guiding the implementation of AHU’s Strategic Plan (2025–2030).
  • Aligning university priorities with national development goals and international education standards.
  • Evaluating progress and making data-informed decisions to ensure continual improvement.

🔹 Academic Governance

  • Reviewing and approving new academic programs and curricula.
  • Ensuring quality assurance and accreditation processes are met.
  • Supporting the advancement of research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation.

🔹 Administrative Affairs & Policy Formation

  • Proposing and endorsing policies that regulate academic and administrative matters.
  • Enhancing internal governance, human resource development, and institutional efficiency.
  • Approving annual budgets, resource allocations, and major university initiatives.

🔹 Student Engagement & Welfare

  • Advocating for student-centered policies and learning environments.
  • Supporting extracurricular and co-curricular development.
  • Ensuring fair access, inclusion, and holistic student support services.

🔹 Community and Industry Linkages

  • Strengthening ties with local industries, government bodies, and civil society.
  • Promoting university-community engagement through public service and outreach.
  • Encouraging internships, entrepreneurship, and real-world learning opportunities.

🔹 Sustainability and Innovation

  • Championing eco-friendly practices through AHU’s Green Campus vision.
  • Fostering digital transformation and the adoption of emerging technologies in teaching, research, and management.

Structure of the University Council

The University Council operates with transparency, inclusiveness, and strategic foresight. It reflects a well-rounded composition of academic leadership and representative voices, including:

  • University President – Chair of the Council, guiding its vision and strategic direction.
  • Vice President for Scientific Affairs – Oversees academic integrity, curriculum development, and research advancement.
  • Vice President for Administrative Affairs – Leads institutional planning, financial management, and operational efficiency.
  • Deans of the Nine Colleges – Represent their respective academic units, contributing insights from diverse disciplines.
  • Student Representative – Voices student concerns and promotes student-centered development.
  • Head of Quality Assurance Department – Contribute technical and disciplinary expertise to Council deliberations.
