Al-Hadba University and the University of Almería Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation: Study Abroad Programmes in Healthcare Design Officially Launched
Almería (Spain) & Mosul (Nineveh), Iraq -- 17 July 2026 - Al-Hadba University and the University of Almería (Kingdom of Spain) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) establishing a framework for academic cooperation between the two institutions, most notably Study Abroad Programmes in the field of healthcare design, opening a new chapter of international partnership for the University, its students and the wider community of Nineveh.
🌐 An Official Signing
The memorandum was signed by Prof. Dr. Salah I. Yahya, Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Al-Hadba University, acting as the legal representative of the University President under Authorization Letter No. 1018 issued on 13 June 2026, and by Mr. José Carlos Redondo Olmedilla, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the University of Almería, acting on behalf of the Rector of the University. The memorandum was issued in three languages -- English, Spanish and Arabic.
🎓 Scope of the Memorandum
The memorandum sets out a comprehensive framework of joint activities:
✅ Study Abroad Programmes: Groups of Al-Hadba University students will travel to Almería to observe the real-world applications of healthcare principles within their fields of study.
✅ Academic Supervision: The University of Almería will develop and deliver a healthcare design curriculum including lectures and practical assignments, provide qualified teachers and professional experts, and issue certificates or academic credentials upon successful completion.
✅ Field Visits: Organized visits to organizations, hospitals, clinics and specialized medical centers in Almería and the surrounding areas.
✅ Cultural Activities: Tours, visits to museums and historical sites, cultural festivals and social events introducing students to Spanish culture, history and heritage.
✅ Wider Cooperation: Joint research, joint scientific conferences and workshops, exchange of teaching and research experiences, mutual dissemination of educational materials and methodologies, and shared information on important international conferences and seminars.

🏫 From Signature to Implementation
The first outcome of the memorandum was delivered without delay. A delegation of 10 students from Al-Hadba University, headed by the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, completed a Tailor-Made Study Abroad Programme in Health Sciences at the University of Almería from 13 to 24 July 2026, comprising 60 contact hours (10 ECTS). Participants were awarded a Certificate of Achievement together with a Transcript of Records issued by the University of Almería, and took part in clinical field visits that included attending surgical procedures at Torrecárdenas University Hospital in Almería.
⚙️ Governance and Duration
To ensure implementation, a joint committee of experts from both parties will be formed to develop a mechanism for monitoring the articles of the memorandum and its annexes and to open new horizons for cooperation, meeting once a year on a regular basis. The memorandum remains in force for four (4) years, renewable for a similar period with the consent of both parties, with the English text prevailing in the event of any difference in interpretation.
