MosulIraq -- September 2026 - Prof. Dr. Salah I. Yahya, Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Al-Hadba University, took part in the first meeting of the Graduate Conversion Training Committee, formed under Ministerial Order No. (65408) dated 16 June 2026. The participation reflects Al-Hadba University’s active presence and its contribution to the national effort to develop graduates’ skills and align them with the needs of the labour market.

🌐 A National Committee for Graduate Conversion Training

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, Division of Development and Human Resource Development. It was attended by Dr. Salah Mahdi Khalil, Director of the Division of Development and Human Resource Development, together with the committee members, marking the launch of the committee’s work on a programme that sits within Iraq’s National Education Strategy.

✅  Labour-Market Alignment: Establishing training pathways that develop graduates’ skills and qualify them in the disciplines and fields demanded by the labour market.

✅  Next Steps: The document will be studied and discussed at the committee’s forthcoming meetings, paving the way for practical conversion-training mechanisms.

✅  Wider Opportunities: Responding to rapid shifts in the labour market and offering graduates broader scope to advance their professional capabilities.

🏫 Building on Pioneering Steps

This participation extends Al-Hadba University’s earlier steps in the field. The University took a pioneering step by signing a memorandum of cooperation and agreement with the UK’s National Open College Network (NOCN) and establishing an accredited training centre, with the aim of delivering professional training programmes for graduates and non-graduates in fields required by the labour market, and providing access to professional training certificates recognised in both Iraq and the United Kingdom.

🚀 Beyond the Academic Degree

Through these steps, Al-Hadba University affirms its vision that the role of a university does not end with awarding an academic degree, but extends to preparing graduates, developing their skills, and opening new career pathways for them in line with the needs of the labour market.

👉 A Strategic Commitment:

Al-Hadba University’s contribution to the national Graduate Conversion Training programme reaffirms its role as an active partner in shaping Iraqi higher-education policy and in bridging the gap between the classroom and the workplace.
